Picking up My New Aquarium - 90 Gallon Reef Savvy Tank - HUGE MONTI

Chapter 1: Gators and Monster Trucks

The journey to pick up my new Reef Savvy 90-gallon tank began with an exciting and well-deserved vacation. Our plan was simple: enjoy the Florida experience before heading to Living Reef Orlando to collect the tank.

During the trip, we:

  • Saw alligators up close

  • Played in the water

  • Lived out a childhood dream by driving a monster truck!

With our vacation coming to a close, the excitement of picking up the tank finally set in. This wasn’t just any tank—it was the ultimate tank build I had been dreaming of. The reason for the long drive from Atlanta, Georgia, to Orlando, Florida? Simple. This wouldn’t be an ultimate tank build unless I got the best of the best.

Chapter 2: Reef Savvy Time

Our last stop in Orlando was Living Reef Orlando, and I had two major highlights waiting for me:

  1. Seeing my 90-gallon Reef Savvy tank for the first time

  2. Exploring Living Reef Orlando, a store I had heard incredible things about

Meeting Edrey at Living Reef Orlando

Edrey was kind enough to invite us in and show us around. As a major retailer of Reef Savvy tanks, their store was filled with these high-end tanks. Felix, the mastermind behind Reef Savvy, had built me the tank I needed, and now it was time to see it in person.

Before checking out my tank, I took some time to explore the store. Their dedication to the reefing hobby was evident, with every tank meticulously maintained and stocked with top-tier corals and fish.

Chapter 3: A Store Built for Reef Lovers

Living Reef Orlando is not just a store—it’s a destination for reef enthusiasts. Here’s what stood out:

  • Showcased exclusively Reef Savvy tanks, except for one MarineLand 300

  • High-end SPS, LPS, and soft corals

  • Expertly designed sumps, filtration, and lighting setups

They even had a massive 700-gallon Reef Savvy display tank. This beast was 120 inches long, 45 inches wide, and 30 inches tall, holding an incredible 701 gallons of water.

In addition to my tank, the store was also setting up another monster reef tank, featuring an MRC 300-gallon sump and R7 skimmer. Seeing their high-tech setups gave me tons of inspiration for my own build.

Chapter 4: The Ultimate Tank Reveal

Finally, the moment arrived. My 90-gallon Reef Savvy tank was right in front of me.

Specs of My Tank:

  • 48” x 24” x 18” dimensions

  • Right-corner hybrid overflow with smoked glass

  • Floating bottom with hybrid bottom design

  • Starfire glass on three sides

  • 1/2” glass construction

This was exactly what I had been looking for—a premium tank that combined beauty with functionality. The smoked glass overflow would prevent coralline algae buildup, keeping it clean and sleek over time.

Chapter 5: More Than Just a Tank

To wrap up our trip, we visited a hidden gem in Orlando: a local Cuban and Dominican restaurant right next to Living Reef Orlando.

Inside, they had a stunning 400-gallon Reef Savvy display tank—one of the most beautiful setups I had ever seen. This tank would serve as inspiration for my own build, proving that when done right, a reef tank can be a true piece of art.

Chapter 6: A Look Into the Future

Before heading home, I got a glimpse of another massive reef build in progress. This upcoming 500-gallon system was designed for keeping angels and hard corals (SPS). Featuring:

  • Vertex Alpha 300 skimmer

  • Hybrid lighting (LEDs + T5s)

  • A massive custom sump setup

  • Single-pump system using a Barracuda Hammerhead

This was next-level reefing. Seeing this project in action got me thinking about my own future upgrades.

Chapter 7: Bringing the Tank Home

With everything set, it was time to load up the tank. The Reef Savvy team packed it up carefully, ensuring a safe journey back to Atlanta. Now, the real fun begins—setting up the ultimate 90-gallon reef tank.

Stay tuned for the next episode, where I:

  • Unbox and install my new Aquamedic equipment

  • Start stocking corals and fish

  • Begin the tank’s cycling process

This is just the beginning of an amazing reefing adventure. Make sure to subscribe and follow along as I build my dream aquarium!
